Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers:

At Florin High, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. You may have heard the term PBIS mentioned by teachers or staff -- but what exactly is PBIS, and how does it help your high schooler? Let's break it down!

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It's a proactive approach schools use to promote good behavior and create a safe, respectful environment where students can learn and grow.

Rather than simply focusing on punishing bad behavior, PBIS encourages and rewards positive choices -- helping students build skills for success both in school and in life.

Celebrating Our Success!

PBIS Gold Award
We're proud to announce that Florin High School has earned Gold Recognition for the 2024-2025 school year from California PBIS! This prestigious award honors our school's committement to creating a positive, respectful, and supportive environment where all students can thrive.

This achievement reflects the hard work of our staff, students, and families in living out our core values: being respectful, responsible, and fearless.

How does PBIS Work?

PBIS is based on clear expectations for student behavior which are taught, modeled, and reinforced consistently by all staff. Here's how it works at Florin High School:
  • Set clear rules and expectations: Centered around our core values of being Respectful, Responsible and Fearless.
  • Teach those expectations: Students learn what these values look like in different school settings (classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, etc.).
  • Recognize and reward positive behavior: Students earn praise, privileges, or small rewards when they demonstrate these values.
  • Provide support when needed: If a student struggles, we offer additional guidance or interventions.
